I always weigh any coins I get from eBay sellers before giving them with positive feedback Although weighing coins isn't fool proof, it's an efficient way of detecting counterfeits and you can purchase a set of scales for under $10 I also avoid buying silver coins off sellers without an excellent reputation whenever possible brbrOut of the one hundred or so 1oz silver coins I've purchase from eBay, two of them were underweight enough to make me sure that it was fake The first time I got a fake, the seller was doing it on purpose which prompted me to be more careful The second time, the seller unknowingly sold me a fake but otherwise seem like a very nice guy who doesn't usually sell silver coins Fortunately, I was able to be refunded both times
