How is it that I can make 38k a year, have 3 kids and a stay at home wife and afford to do things like cruises for my entire family, dinners, lunches, brunches, amusement parks, buying literally whatever I want? You are making 52k a year and complaining that you need to make more? That’s laughable No, you need to learn to make good financial choices Isn’t that what you teach in school?

Please, in Mississippi first year teachers is 34,460 a year no experience with a bachelor degree I be lucky to make 50k a year

If two people make $40,000 a year each which would be way under average for teachers but a total of 80,000 a year and you can’t live off that that is because you were miss managing your money

The average income for a teacher is literally the exact average household income for people in America which is $55,000 a year most families are making that with combined incomes if you have to make ends meet by getting another job you can work during the summertime when you’re paid to be off for three months or you can manage your money better cause $40,000 a year is still a good amount of money for one person to bring it and if you are divorced or you’re not married that’s your fault for cutting off half of your income but you’re still get child support

We spent over $630 billion a year on education how much more do we need to spend Teachers make an average of $55,000 a year including three months off with a really great benefits and if you want to take a job in oil rig so you have to have a degree and work much harder job with much longer hours go ahead but don’t compare yourself to them

And yeah those people are just the high school diplomas maybe working like 80 hours a week and don’t have three months off or the benefits you have to work on it and oil rig or construction something that’s really hard you can go do those jobs if you want to or you can be happy with what you make

13 years in making 40k Also, given $20000 for the yearly budget to run the art room for 653 kids Why is America so backwards on our most precious commodity? Our future grown ups, citizens, leaders Teachers wear 5 or more hats Teach, social worker, 2nd parent, nurse, counselor Roll all those salaries up and we are easily eligible for 6 figures

Wonderful topic! It's sad when a teacher cannot purchase a decent home in a decent neighborhood It appears you have to have two incomes to make ends meet It should never be that way, especially if you have a master's and 12 years experience There are times when I just want to cry Yes, teaching is a rewarding field and you are not in it to make millions however, you would like to live comfortably There are many states that do not pay their teachers well and unfortunately, I don't live in one!

I have been teaching for five years and make less than 40k It's ridiculous I love what I do, but many times I think I should have just gone into something that would pay me a more livable wage I work a full time job and am always trying to find a side job to make more moneyI didn't go to school for four years to always be looking for an extra job to pay my bills😕

Yes Americans need to be paid more, There are shortages because they do not make a ton of money Finland has a great education program that pays teachers more We need to make educating our youth the number one priority and that means respecting the people who teach

As a first year teacher in New Hampshire, I was making 25000 last year I moved back in with my parents so that I could save money in order to move out of state I love what I do but I do not want to sacrifice being able to pay rent for a place of my own just to be able to keep teaching in my home state
