Thanks for sharing I use Snowman instead 4 letter words are the most difficult (eg Jazz) I start with 8 or 9 letter words first Grouping words by the number of letter word or by animal, foods, verbs, adjectives Students /groups can pick After playing , put a Snowman word into a simple sentence and ask students/ groups to extend it by adding new words (scaffolding from a word to a sentence ; practice speaking from a word to a sentence ) eg elephants to Eleven elephants in a 7-11 Riddle has a lot of fun also eg What do you see at the end of the rainbow? the capital in France? what is the alphabet letter contains the most water? can you make a sound of a K9 ? instead of hangman being hanged, try a man gliding on a parachute draw an appropriate amount of strings from the body to the parachute each wrong letter students guess will erase one string when all strings are gone, the man fallssafely into a pool of pudding Comment from : @shredpaper9

I found a better way to play Hangman! Instead it is a gingerbread man that gets a bite taken out every time you get a letter wrong That way it's not scary or upsetting :) Comment from : @delaneyjones7636

I failed to explain the rules of Simon says, both with a 4 yokid at a normal lesson and with a 5 yo student at our online lesson They just copied my actions no matter whether I said Simon says or no I even showed a video of English speaking kids playing the game to the 4-year-old boy, but it still didn't help Unless it is explained in L1 I guess it is unlikely it will work Will be grateful for any tips! My Spanish-speaking students have trouble with "I want you to" because they translate literally from Spanish and say "I want that you" So we do "I want you to" instead of saying "Simon says" Comment from : @SHTMusik

Hangman is easily adapted I use a flower pot with just a stem For each wrongly guessed letter I add 2 leaves and continue with the head of a flower and petals If it is proving really difficult, I add a face to the flower!
