idk what return she used, but if it were the sp500 averaging 9 she would have had $288,610 by 65 and with dividends reinvested making the total return 10, that 6500 would have been $431,000!!!!!!!

This is assuming 8 returns? Your choice of investments matter too Many people just do target date funds, which average closer to 7 and would net $119k in this scenario S&P500 averages around 10, which would be $391k

A lot of people missing the point, yes we get it, getting a 10k bonus is nearly impossible at that age, but saving 10k shouldn’t be impossible If you got your first job at 18, and started depositing into your roth every month you’d eventually reach 6,500 and it wouldn’t take long Instead we’re taught to buy stupid shet that keeps us poor

I get the concept but this is a quite exaggerated From 21 to 45 is 24 years and to reach 178K from initial investment of $6500, you are assuming an average return of almost 15 by the rule of 72 brMaybe true if you put money into bitcoin or other higher risk/higher rewards option stocks which are not encouraged for a retirement portfolio
