The best defense against this is to purchase only whole food that is recognizable in its original form Very affordable if you know which veggies and grains to buy, the fruits will be tough and seasonal but organic tofu will not be GMO and is quite cheap Avoid at all costs the ultra-processed food products which ALWAYS have hidden additives and emulsifiers that are extremely harmful to human health and if you don’t know yet/ or think to disagree I strongly suggest researching for yourself from reputable sources such as pubMed and search for clinical evidence

This is why i either buy as many processed foods from local producers or from trusted vendors at farmers markets I also try to make as many things from scratch as possible It's easier to verify that it's real when the farm/dairy/butcher is right there Also, for those who say it's unaffordable, food produced on location is much more reasonably priced than those that have transfered through a few hands Real food tastes stronger, so it lasts longer than the fake stuff
